Hanoi Run For Children

The Hanoi Run for Children (HRC) was established in 2000 formerly known as the Terry Fox Run Hanoi (2000-2008). It has been organizing by the Embassy of Canada to Vietnam in Hanoi, the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association (VCFA), the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations (HAUFO) and several other organizations. HRC attracted more than 80,000 participants and raised more than VND 9 billion to assist underprivileged children with cancer and heart disease treatment.

Last year, HRC attracted more than 10,000 participants and raised more than VND 1 billion to assist underprivileged children with cancer and heart disease treatment at the National Hospital of Pediatrics, Hanoi Heart Hospital and in the Heart Beat Vietnam program of VinaCapital Foundation (www.vinacapitalfoundation.org).


Nearly 10,000 people gathered at the main gate of the Reunification Park, Hanoi on December 6, 2015 to participate in a charitable run around the Thien Quang Lake, Hanoi, to raise funds for the treatment of disadvantaged children with cancer and heart disease at the Hospital of Pediatrics, the Hanoi Heart Hospital and through the Heart Beat Vietnam Program. The run were successful and raised more than VND 1.2 billion in cash and VND 200 million in kind.

The HRC Organizing Committee: The Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO), the Vietnam - Canada Friendship Association (VCFA), The Embassy of Canada to Vietnam, Manulife Vietnam and Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi would like to express our sincere thanks to related ministries and departments of Central and Hanoi, leadership of Hanoi, Hanoi residents, international community, enterprises and organizations for joining our efforts in this event.

HRC 2016 is to be held in 11th December, 2016 at Reunification Park in the Central Business District of Hanoi. The Organizing Board and media are going to broadcast the Run for Children widely right before, during and after the event. All proceeds will be used to fund programs for sick children from poor families at the Hanoi Heart Hospital, the National Hospital of Pediatrics and Heart Beat Vietnam. Funds are raised from participants’ cash donations, the sale of t-shirts and food, and corporate sponsorship.

The organisers would like to invite all Vietnamese and international communities, schools, organisations, companies to take part in and to support this meaningful event, as well as to join forces in the fight against fatal diseases.

This is not a race. You can run or walk for as long as you want. No roller blades or bicycles please.
